Black Screen Win 8 to 8.1 upgrade
Question: I just upgraded my Windows 8 computer to 8.1, and now when I log into Mabinogi I have a black screen, like the ones shown here:
How do I fix this?

Can't change hair color (Hatsune Miku+)
Question: I have a Hatsune Miku, Kagamine Rin/Len, and/or Kaito hairstyle and I can't change just the color of my hair. Is there a way to do it?
As of the recent change in the dressing room, the new faces, scars, etc being added, the old answer below is not tested and if you have the Maid or Butler hairs, if you rebirth you will lose them. If you have the Miku/Rin/Len/Kaito hairstlyes with colors, you should be ok to rebirth. If you only have the colors and not the hairstyles, your hair color may be lost and defaulted to black. Be WARNED.

Can't find my pet / partner
Question: I created a pet / Maid / Butler / Commerce Partner, and now I can't find it in the list of pets/partners?
Answer: Make sure you check which server you created it on. (You can check on the character selection screen) This usually caused by a pet or partner being made on a different server than the one your characters are on. You can send a ticket and hope they transfer it for you, but this is usually just something you have to live with, and be careful about next time. If you're checking here some day in the future, check the forum to see if many people had the same problem and if it was a glitch. They're more likely to respond if many people had the same problem, versus one person having an accident.

Hackshield Error w Razer Game Booster
Question: Whenever I run Mabinogi with Razer Game Booster, I get a hackshield error, (0xe9040019) why?
Answer: Mabinogi's hackshield is thinking Game Booster is a malicious program of some sort. Try running Mabinogi without Game Booster loaded, if that doesn't work, uninstall it.

Mabinogi runs, 100% CPU usage

You cannot login(3)
Question: I tried to log into my account, and it told me I needed to create a secondary password (even though I already have one) and then I put in my regular secondary password and it said "you cannot login(3)", how do I get back in?
Answer: This happens if your account is already logged in, like on a laptop, and now you're attempting to log into the desktop. Or if you just got kicked from the game by disconnecting or some other error, and the game doesn't realize you're not still connected. You have to wait for about 5 minutes before being able to get in. If the error lasts longer than 15 minutes, and you're absolutely sure you're not logged in another computer, feel free to write about it on the forum.
Also, you don't have to (and shouldn't) continually enter a secondary password while this is happening. Just click the back button, and then every so often click the login button. If you get the message that you have to create a new secondary password, you know it isn't ready, and you can click cancel again. When the new secondary password message stops popping up, you should be able to get in fine.
On 2/15/2014, channel 7 of Ruairi went down and anyone switching to channel 7 is now in a state of Limbo, unable to access their accounts. They will have to wait to have the channel re-set by someone at Nexon. Most likely on the 18th, as the 17th is a federal holiday.
During the weekend of March 15/16th, Tarlach is having the same issue. Hopefully fixed by Nexon on Monday (but it is St. Patty's Day).

I want less Lag, D/Cs, & easier movability.
Question: I want to have less lag, smoother game play, and less D/Cs. How do I do that?
Answer: Go into the Options Section and...
1) Color Depth should be low
2) "Expand Zoom" & "Range of Vision" should both be all the way to the left. (so you're not seeing things far off, which may be annoying, but decreases the chance you're going to crash)
3) Turn off all the effects, under the effects tab. Change to "Not Used" for the pull down settings.
4) Go to the Performance Tab.
~Minimize Characters will turn the other players clothes into robes, so there's less detail being shown. This setting annoys some people, but is very effective in speeding the game up in more laggy situations. If it's on the left, more people will be in robes, than if it's to the right.
~Simplify Demigod effects
~Check "Mini Effects" (This one helps to decrease lag, but causes annoyance. You will not see bard effects. metallurgy spots, or shylienn spots) You can turn it on and off, and go to your homestead or leave your HS to see the effects change.
5) Go to Game, Etc Tab and make sure "Hide Quest Info" is checked. You can also check "Hide Talent Title Icon" while you're there if you don't care to see them (they can also increase lag).
When you're in the game, if you click enter, you can speak in the section at the bottom (sure you know this). But if you click on a tab, like Whisper, nothing from the other tabs will show up. You may dislike not seeing other people speak in many situations, but this can help if you don't care, and in a really laggy situation.
Hit Alt & 'n', and/or Alt & 'p' : These hide the n = names, and p = party ads over people's heads. You can hit Alt & n/p to get them to show up again.

D/Cing in Tara while Commercing
Question: I often disconnect while commercing through the town of Tara. It's a safe zone, but I still end up losing ducats. What can I do?
Answer: I have noticed I used to D/C a lot in the center of Tara's town around the fountain or fashion show stage. Now I commerce on the East of Tara, as far East as you can go, follow the castle East, and then go South on the East side of town. I haven't D/Ced in Tara since.

Stuck in Convo w/ Commerce Trade Helper
Question: I'm commercing and I can't mount my commerce load and I can't get out of a conversation with the trade helper.
Answer: I think this happens due to lag; the server thinking you're not close enough to mount, when you're done with the conversation, you get forced back to the person who you were talking to. Once you're stuck, I haven't come across a solution except to force-close the game, and lose the ducats.
But, there is a trick you can use for the future. When you go to talk to anyone while you have a commerce load, dismount yourself (using a hotkey or right clicking on your commerce transportation) from the load, then talk. If you dismount, and there's any issues with the conversation, you won't get auto-remounted when you're done, which is when the glitch happens.

I Can't Renew My Style Tab
Question: So, my style tab expired the other day and I went to renew it, but the in-game window that popped up said that "the page couldn't be displayed".
Answer: You need enough pon, not just the NX on your account for it to work.

It is a dick move on Nexon's part to make it go automatically to 1 day, after showing you the price for 30 days. You can look in your previous purchase history to tell which one you bought. You can try sending in a ticket, maybe they'll do something someday.

Long Answer: The following theory states the new service (since Nexon made Free inventory free) does not include Guilds.

When you attempt to join one of these guilds, the person attempting to join gets a message "you must have Mabinogi Premium Service to invite new members" whether or not the person attempting to join has VIP/Premium or not. It's really an error that the guild leader doesn't have service (even though they do).
I tested this out with a friend who has VIP and always renews it before it has ever expired. They were able to place a guild stone today. I bought VIP service yesterday and was unable to.
My theory is that the old service (that is being renewed for some people who have never let it lapse) can still invite guild members and place stones, but if you ever let your service expire for a day or more, and buy new service, the new service does not cover guilds (though you get daily items, see Nao and can do a house). How can I get rid of the desktop icon?
Question: Nexon keeps putting a shortcut on my desktop for Mabinogi that goes to the website, but I use a shortcut for the client to open automatically, how do I get rid of the website one?

But a better solution is just go to where Mabinogi.exe is on your computer and make a shortcut for your desktop.

Answer: Sometimes when you go to a dragon raid, it asks you if you want to optimize your settings so you'll lag less. When you do that, the game "minimizes effects" (also known as mini effects in the options), and also minimizes characters (which puts them in robes).
Go to Options, and the performance tab, and make sure Minimize Characters is unchecked, and Mini Effects is unchecked.

Extreme Lag on one character, others are fine
Question: I have really bad lag every few seconds on one character, or account, but a new character or account plays fine.
Answer: Nexon implemented Quest Markers (pink text that leads to your next Quest destinations). They cause bad lag as they pile up from quests not finished, most people play without them on, and turn them on only when you need to see where you need to go next.
Go to Options -> Game Tab -> Etc Tab and make sure Hide Quest Info is checked.

UGC cannot be redeemed again
Question: I have $20 in Ultimate Game Card (UGC) money, when I put $10 dollars in, Nexon decided the card had been redeemed, and can't be used anymore.
Answer: Go to the place where you pay by cash, and click the login button on the top right (between Choose Language and Help), you can create an Ultimate Pay account with the same email address you've used for Nexon, etc. And sign in. You can then use the points to pay.
